Teach English in Thailand or China

Put your skills - and your heart - into teaching in Thailand or China. Teach at an elementary, middle or high school, college or university in an urban or rural location for either 5 or 10 months.

If you have a degree (any discipline), good organisational skills and excellent spoken and written English you may be eligible. Individuals with teaching experience are particularly welcome, although this is not essential.

You’ll be paid a local salary and host institutions provide comfortable accommodations. The salary may not seem particularly high in Western terms but it is generous in local terms - about twice what local teachers earn - and wages can easily finance independent travel. The cost of living in both Thailand and China is very low.

Student Placement Australia (SPA) works closely with our partners in Thailand (Overseas Educational Group) and China (Council on International Educational Exchange) to provide high level support services before you leave Australia and during your period in Thailand or China.

We handle contract negotiation, visa procurement, and insurance. And we conduct a week-long orientation in Bangkok or Shanghai to acquaint you with the local language, culture, and teaching techniques. Most importantly, we have staff on the ground in Thailand and China to assist and advise you while you’re there.
