Sports Scholarships USA
International Showcase
Each candidate must attend a unique ‘International Showcase'
event in the USA in July each year attended by coaches from
over 70 American universities. The showcase is a 2 week residential
camp in the USA involving international students from all over
the world.
The 2009 International Showcase is scheduled to take place
in mid-July in Florida, USA. The cost of attendance
will be A$4,500 which includes all accommodation,
meals and coaching whilst in the USA.
The event is designed to:
- Allow you to showcase your skills
- Involve you in training sessions & workshops
- Place you in various games & matches against local teams
- Expose you to life on a USA university campus
- Participate in classes and tours
- Take part in cultural and social activities
Candidates are supervised by professional staff throughout
and live on a university campus that includes dormitories equipped
with air-conditioning, 24-hour security, computer labs, library,
swimming pool, and access to all other athletic and academic
facilities. Additionally, candidates have access to permanent
medical attention; replicating the life-style that an international
student would normally experience once at an American university.
The objective of the ‘International Showcase' is to
promote a dynamic interaction between candidates and American
university coaches with the purpose of assessing each individual's
skills & abilities. During this process, coaches select
the candidates capable of making an impact in programs
at all levels: NAIA, JUCO, and NCAA.

"The main experiences that stand out for me are speaking
to and meeting with different coaches. Meeting the coaches
gave me a real insight into what the different Colleges are
all about and whether I would suit their teams.
I not only learnt about US Colleges but also came away from
the experience with a real idea of where I want to go and
study." |

"The program was highly organised, included various
social events, a number of training sessions and games as
well as information sessions which enabled us to learn more
about the USA college system. I gained an insight to the
USA college system and what it will be like to study and
be an athlete at college level. I met a number of coaches
and discussed the opportunities that will be available to
me. I have made many new friends from around the globe including
students from South America, UK, Spain, Sweden and Germany
and have come away with wonderful memories."

"I attended the showcase in the US in 2006 and was successful
in gaining a scholarship to Dickinson State University in
North Dakota. The showcase was great. It was an opportunity
to play basketball with players from around the world, under
the watchful eyes of coaches and selectors from numerous universities.
I learnt heaps, made some great friends and have been offered
a scholarship. I start at Dickinson in August 2007!" |
